I almost never use patterns now, but I did when I was a beginning rosemaler, and recognize their role in helping one get started. The designs offered here are pretty basic in compositon. Please use them as jumping off points into your own work. Think of them as guides to composition.
Each image shows a rendering of the completed piece in color, and a black and white version to use as the pattern. A few are patterns that I actually drew, but most are made by simply photo copying the original, converting to black and white, and then inverting the color if the background is dark.
If you right click on a pattern, you can copy the image to your own device, then adapt it for your own purposes. Feel free to modify, adjust, enlarge, or rearrange as your needs and sensibilities dictate. Please do not use them for any commercial purposes.
